Getting Started on CBD:

Here's What You Should Know

What is CBD?

The use of CBD oil for medical purposes has gained considerable prominence over the years. CBD oil is now being used in the treatment of seizures, soothing anxiety and as a relief to muscle pain. However, before your first encounter with CBD, there is a need for you as a user to understand some specifics. In an attempt to make sure that you get your first time right, we have developed a beginner’s guide that will help answer some of the questions that you might have.

How does it work?

CBD oil works through its interaction with the endocannabinoid system of the body. Normally, the body is made up of two main endocannabinoids namely the 2-AG and the anandamide. These two molecules then bind themselves to the CB-1 and CB-2 endocannabinoid receptors which can be found in the central nervous system and organ tissues respectively for normal body functioning.

When the body is at a normal functioning state, the ratio between the endocannabinoids and their respective receptors is always constant. The endocannabinoids and their respective receptors work together to ensure that all psychological processes are functioning at equilibrium. The endocannabinoids are responsible for regulating homeostasis on every biological level.

However, this equilibrium between the endocannabinoids and their receptors can be disrupted when the body malfunctions or because of sickness. When this deficit occurs, one can use CBD oil in restoring the cannabinoid-receptor ratio for the normal functioning of the body.

Is it legal?

Since CBD is a constituent of the cannabis plant which is illegal under the federal government, one might raise concerns about its legality in terms of use, possession, and purchase. However, it depends which the angle that you approach it too.

Naturally, CBD can be found in either the cannabis plant or the hemp. While cannabis is illegal, industrial hemp remains legal for use due to the small traces of THC present compared to the THC composition in the cannabis plant.

While hemp might be legal, there are certain setbacks that come with it. For example, the extraction process of CBD from hemp tends to be a longer process than from a cannabis plant due to the low composition of the CBD in it. Therefore, we do recommend CBD oils extracted from the whole cannabis plant.

Is it safe for me to take CBD oil?

CBD oil is very safe and very advantageous over pharmaceutical drugs since it lacks any side effects. A report done by the World Health Organization in 2007 states that the CBD oil is as effective as any medicine and recommended it due to the lack of any side effects. Taking CBD oil is 100% safe for you.

Remember to consult with your doctor

As always, before you stop taking any of your current medication or start using CBD, it’s important that you speak with your doctor or healthcare professional. While CBD is a natural compound with very little in the way of side-effects, it could interact with other medication which you may be taking.
